27. SSF Security Talk | Security Policy Strategy 2026

 

Given the increasingly tense geopolitical situation, how can Switzerland strengthen its security, resilience and defence capabilities – and what role do the authorities, the armed forces, the business community, the cantons, international partners and the civilian population play in this?

These questions were the focus of the 27th SSF Security Talk at the Grande Société de Berne, which addressed the Federal Council’s new Security Policy Strategy 2026.

The event made it clear that Europe’s security situation has changed fundamentally. Today, security must be considered in a comprehensive manner – militarily, economically, socially and technologically. What is now needed is political prioritisation, strong leadership and closer cooperation between the federal government, the cantons, the business community and the armed forces to ensure that words are followed by the urgently needed actions.
