21st SSF Security Talk | Gamechanger in the Military and Civilian Sector»

Drone technology has developed rapidly in recent years and is now an indispensable part of both military and civilian life. Supported by AI and satellite-based reconnaissance, drones have massively increased the operational capabilities of modern armed forces. At the same time, they make the battlefield transparent, which is tantamount to a revolution in warfare.

The civilian development and use of drones has also multiplied, opening up new opportunities in areas such as logistics, agriculture, energy, mobility, civil protection & disaster relief, security & surveillance, meteorology, etc.

  • The growing drone industry is bringing innovative technologies – how can this potential be optimally exploited?

  • What role do Swiss drone companies play in international competition?

  • How can cooperation between the federal government, authorities, industry, science and users be promoted?

  • What are the goals of the ‘Drone Task Force’ of the DDPS, armasuisse and FOCP?

  • How can Switzerland become self-sufficient in the military sector?

  • What regulations are needed for the responsible use of drones?

We discussed these and other exciting questions at the 21st FSS Security Talks with around 100 participants and our renowned experts:

  • Prof. Dr Michel Guillaume, Head of the Centre for Aviation, ZHAW

  • Dr Thomas Rothacher, Head of Science and Technology, armasuisse

  • Dr Julie Villinger, Head of Meteorology, Meteomatics AG

  • Dr Jürg Wildi, Member of the Board of Directors, Meteomatics AG | Partner v2sky

  • Markus Eggenberger, Chief of Security Police, Graubünden Cantonal Police

  • Philipp Eder, Head of Drones & Robots, Swisscom Broadcast Ltd
